About: Background

TransFaith Online was founded in 1999 and relaunched in 2007, to meet the increasing need for spiritual resources that speak specifically to transgender experiences. The vision for a TransFaith Network evolved between 2007 and 2009 as transgender people of faith increased community buidling nationally, both within LGBT and faith communities, for more connections celebrating transgender spirituality, including our families and allies.

Special Thanks

Special thanks go out to the Honorable Rev. Vicky Kolakowski and the Rev. Allyson Robinson for brainstorming with me about a TransFaith Forum way back in January 2007, as well as Rabbi Levi Alter more recently who has been a passionate advocate for community-building among transgender people of spirit.

We are deeply grateful to the AHS Foundation and the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation for both their faith in this vision and the funding to develop these technologies.

The list of other inspiring community members is too long to list here. Suffice it to say that the beauty and commitment of this cloud of witnesses, most especially transgender-identified religious leaders, is why the TransFaith Network exists.
