Help: Private Messaging

The TransFaith Network provides a simple method to connect with other users, without revealing any personal contact information.

  • When you send a private message to another TransFaith Network user, they will receive an email from the TransFaith Network, showing them your message, as well as a link back into the TransFaith Network.  Your email address is not included in that email.
  • The message recipient can also send you a reply through the private messaging system. They just click through on the link in the email, sign-in to the TransFaith Network, and use the same feature to send you a message. Again, neither email address is revealed in the private messaging correspondence.
  • If you wish to move the correspondence to traditional email, you can do that by sharing your email address in the message body and inviting a response that way.

Your email address will not be visible through the TransFaith Network, unless, you choose to enable email display through that profile setting.  If you allow your email address to be displayed as a part of your user profile, it will only be visible to users who are signed-in to the system.

Finding other users

There are several ways to find out who is registered in the TransFaith Network and thus available for private messaging.

  • If you know the name of the user you want to write to, you can go directly to the private messaging page and type in their name. If the appropriate username does not pop up automatically, you should click on the search button to get a list of matching options.
  • Each user profile includes a link that will take you directly to the private messaging page with the appropriate username entered.
    • You can browse through the Network Directory and click through to profiles.
    • You click through to someone's profile from the Network Map. Note: Geographic information is not required, so not all users are included on the map.
    • You can go to the My Groups page and click through the link on one of your groups to find other members of that group listed with their profiles.
    • You can click through from someone's post in the discussion forum to find their profile.
