From: B. Cole <cole@seven-generations.org> Date: Mon, Jan 18, 2010 at 3:00 PM Subject: The Brown Boi Project To: "B. Cole" <cole@seven-generations.org> Greetings, My name is Cole and I wanted to reach out to share a really new exciting project with you that could a great opportunity for your youth. The Brown Boi Project is a leadership development and organizing project for young (35 and under) masculine of center womyn, trans men, and straight men of color to build collective power within their communities—pipelining them into the social justice movement. (‘masculine of center’ is a term that recognizes the breadth and depth of identity for lesbian/queer/ womyn who tilt toward the masculine side of the gender scale and includes a wide range of identities such as butch, stud, aggressive, AG, dom, etc.) We are very excited to announce the launch of the first Brown Boi Project cohort of 2010 and I am sending a special request out to youth programs for LGBTQQ youth to see if there might be people in your program that could be a really good fit for the program. If you can help us spread the info below and identify folks I would really appreciate it. I am also happy to provide more information on our work as well. Just let me know. Thanks, Cole To apply follow this link to the survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/X98F6TZ The Brown Boi Project is a leadership development and organizing project for young (35 and under) masculine of center womyn, trans men, and straight men of color to build collective power within their communities—pipelining them into the social justice movement. These retreats bring participants from across the country to experience an intensive introduction to community organizing while doing important personal leadership development. We’re looking for people who are interested in a new path or career that builds power for communities of color. You will receive training in understanding power, communications, cross culture coalition building, personal finance, community organizing, conflict resolution, fundraising, relationship building, gender justice, and personal life planning. The program is open to participants from around the country and if you are selected your travel, lodging, and food will be covered to attend the retreat in Oakland, CA from March 17th-21st. B.
